Yes and No.  You would meet the CGSB requirements for training, but you would have to find an employer willing to take you on as a trainee so you could get your required hours for certification.  And that's the difficult part, employers want ticketed guys.  Good luck.

Just a short one on ethics for all that may have a response.

Suppose an individual is writing and signing reports and the individual does not hold the required certification level.

What would you do?

Hello,

I am currently training in LPI and MPI. I am about half way done my hours and have completed my 40 hours courses. Unfortunatly where i am there are no M&P courses and I'm not very confident that i know the material enough to be prepared for my exams. Rumor has is that there is a online course avail. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this course and where i could find information on it.

Before becoming certified you must gather the necessary experience working under the direction of a level 2 or 3 in the method.
You will need a certified level 2 to sign your application verifying that you have the necessary experience.

Thermography is different, in that there is currently no NRCan certification for it.

Hello,

I am currently enlisted in a NDT course and am supposed to be heading out for a 8 month work term. Currently it seems that although there is active jobs for those who have certificates, there isn't a need for trainees to break in and get experience. With having no connections or experience in the industry, it seems difficult to get a kick start at things.

Does anyone have any advice how to break into the industry, or possible know of contacts who may be interested in such a person?

Thanks alot, appreciate any feedback.

I am looking at getting into the NDT industry in BC.  I have made a few contacts with companies that I have worked for in the past and they have told me that they both use NDT and that they would hire me if I could perform the tasks that they require.  What I need to know is, once I have taken my level 1, am I allowed to work for myself, or is it required of me to work under someone else for a certain period?

Also, if one was to target his business primarily at mills and mines, what methods of NDT would you recommend?  I would like to be proficient in at least two methods, but I do not know which two.  I am really interested in thermography, but is there much of a demand for it?

What methods of NDT would you guys suggest?

Thanks
