The Western Canadian Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) is the technical expert on the Western Canadian Radiation Safety Team and acts as the principal technical resource to Western Canadian labs. The RSO is responsible for assuring that all labs use of radiation conforms to the Mistras Radioactive Material License, selected industry standards, and applicable government regulations. The RSO is responsible to assure that radiation exposures to personnel are as low as reasonably achievable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
•Manage and administer all facets of a radiation safety safety program for Western Canadian employees performing industrial radiography and other licensed activities. Responsibilities range from documentation to training to regulatory interpretation and liaison.
•Review provincial and federal laws to recommend modifications to enhance and ensure the compliance, safety, and efficiency of the Mistras Radiation Safety Program.
•Perform and/or review investigations of over exposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses, or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary.
