Posted: Fri, Apr 16th 2010 at 8:54 AM We started the summer months off with a technical session on, “Non-Destructive Testing in the Repair and Maintenance of Gas Turbine Components” presented by Paul Lowden at Liburdi Engineering in Dundas. Attendance was fabulous.  After the presentation, we were taken on a tour of the turbine blade manufacturing facility. The tour guides; Doug Nagy, Robert Owles and Jonathan Joannides were very informative and patient with all the questions that were answered along the way.  I would like take this opportunity to thank Paul and the staff for taking time out of their busy day to make all attendees feel very welcome. Liburdi also manufactures automated welding cells under the Dimetrics brand name.  Included below are a few pictures of the tour.  Congratulations to our door prize winners; Mike Nicholas, Zengping (Rick) Yu, Ken Secord, Ed Voyer and Tajammal Ahmad.  We look forward to seeing you on our upcoming sessions. Our next technical discussion will be presented by Rob Milner of FLIR Systems in Burlington. He will discuss thermography and thermographic cameras and their role in NDT.  The technical session will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 and will take place at 6:00 PM at Flir’s facilities;  Unit 125-5230 South Service RoadBurlington, ON.  On October 21st, Rankin MacGillivray, President and owner of Nray Services Inc. in Dundas, Ontario will have a presentation on Neutron Radiography.  This presentation will take place at his facilities and will be followed by a tour of the McMaster University Nuclear Reactor in Hamilton.   Please make room in your busy fall schedule for these events and the Annual Christmas party.  This year we are changing the venue to the Pillar and Post Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Saturday, November 29th.  Members will get a special rate of $139.00/day ($152.90 taxes included-based on single or double occupancy).
