Online Written Examination System Roll-out Plan for CGSB MT and PT multiple choice examinations
1. Official launch date for MT and PT exams is February 1, 2023.  Click here for full details.
2. The NRCan NDTCB website has been updated with notices/applicable examination registration instructions for the PT & MT multiple-choice questions electronic written exams.  Click here for registration information.
3. The Yardstick-Meazure online exam system portal link, where candidates are required to purchase and book the exams, will be sent directly to the approved candidates through their “Electronic Written Examination Authorization” letter sent via email. This link cannot be accessed directly from the NRCan NDTCB website, only the authorization letter.
4. The NRCan NDTCB-issued “Electronic Written Exam Authorization” letter replaces the “Written Admittance Form” for the MT and PT methods (and eventually all other methods). It provides official authorization for the candidates to write an exam for the method they applied for using the electronic written exam (computer-based format). This letter provides the link to access the Yardstick-Meazure online exam system portal, NRCan NDTCB Policy Manual and instructions how to book the written exam.
5. This current transition plan is applicable to MT & PT multiple-choice exams only effective February 1, 2023. All other methods, such as UT, ET, RT and XRF (as well as the Level 3 basic examination which is common to all methods) will follow the current standard paper-based process until they are phased-out in the coming months, for which you will be notified of the transition plans and dates.

Eligibility/Registering for Initial Written Examination and Re-examination for MT & PT Certifications
1. All new candidates are automatically eligible for the online written examination system. An “Application Approval/Electronic Written Exam Authorization” letter will be sent by email once their application for examination eligibility is approved. Registering for a paper-based format exam through an AEC is no longer an option.
2. Candidates that currently have valid MT and/or PT written examination admittance and registration form(s) that have NOT YET scheduled the examination(s) at an AEC are required to obtain an “Electronic Written Exam Authorization” letter by submitting a written request via email to the NDTCB, and then book the examination through the Yardstick-Meazure online exam system portal.
3. Candidates that currently have valid MT and/or PT written examination admittance and registration form(s) that have ALREADY scheduled the paper-based examination(s) through an AEC with examination dates between February 1, 2023 - March 3, 2023 can select one of the following options:
Option 1: Write the paper-based exam booked at an AEC as previously scheduled up to March 3, 2023.
Option 2: Cancel previously booked paper-based exam scheduled, submit a written request via email to the NDTCB to obtain an “Electronic Written Exam Authorization” letter, and rebook the exam through the Yardstick-Meazure online exam system portal to write the electronic exam in-person in selected AEC.
4. Candidates that currently have valid MT and/or PT written examination admittance and registration form(s) that have ALREADY scheduled the paper-based examination(s) through an AEC with examination dates from March 4, 2023 & onwards will NOT be able to write the paper-based examination(s). They must cancel previously booked paper-based exam, submit a written request via email to the NDTCB to obtain an “Electronic Written Exam Authorization” letter, and rebook the exam through the Yardstick Meazure online exam system portal to write the electronic exam in-person in selected AEC.

Note: If the candidate has already paid the examination centre fees, the AEC is required to refund this fee to the candidate, as the candidate must pay for the examination through the Yardstick-Meazure online exam system portal.
