Entrance Prerequisites

  1. For all Ontario courses, registrants must:
    • be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
    • have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
    OR successfully complete the online math exam. Evidence of either of these will be required before taking the course.


  2. For the subjects of Radiography, Ultrasonics, Eddy Current and CEDO, the Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has implemented a math prerequisite that will effect all students registering for these courses. All students are required to complete a 15 question math examination (1 hour time limit) prior to being approved to attend these courses, however, pre-course registration with CINDE allows you to register and take the exam at no cost. In the event of a failure, a membership fee will be due.

    CINDE offers this exam online free of charge to:

    This is a one time exam which candidates must receive 70% minimum to pass. This exam can also be completed at any NRCan Approved Training Organization or can be challenged online as detailed above. If you have already passed this exam, please disregard this informaton.


  3. Level 2 and 3 courses require successful completion of the relevant Level 1 or Level 2 prerequisite training course within the past 10 years. Please provide proof of meeting this requirement by mailing/faxing or bringing in a copy of this necessary documentation/certificates. Course results will be held until proof of this course is received.


  4. When applying for CGSB certification, it is mandatory for all candidates to have successfully completed an Engineering, Materials and Components (EMC) / Materials and Processes course, OR to provide evidence of meeting this requirement by successfully completing an equivalency exam.

    This is a one time exam which candidates must receive 70% minimum to pass. All candidates who currently hold two (2) or more CGSB certifications are exempt from this requirement.

  5. When applying for CGSB certification, applicants are required to meet the Canadian Standard for Certification CAN/CGSB 48.9712 Vision Requirements (click here).


  6. New government regulation requirements for Radiography Level 2. If you are currently a Nuclear Energy Worker, you must submit a copy of your current energy worker consent form along with your Social Insurance Number. This information should be faxed to us at 905-574-6080 or emailed to (in PDF format) at the time of registration. Course results will be held until this information has been provided.
