TRAINING PREREQUISITES
  1. COURSE PREREQUISITES
Want to know what the prerequisites are for a course? Simple! Just follow these steps:

    1. (Optional) Sign into your CINDE account so we know your current prerequisites
    2. Go to the Training Course index page: https://www.cinde.ca/courses/
    3. Find the course in the location you want and click on the course title
    4. Scroll down past the description to find a date you are interested in and click Register Now (don't worry, you won't actually have to register yet!)

The following page tells you any prerequisites that are required before continuing. If none are listed, then you already meet them (or the course has none), and you can continue the registration process to sign up for the course. If you don't meet them, click on each prerequisite to display further details about it and how to meet it (or read the points below).

  2. NRCan NDT CB REQUIREMENT - MATERIALS AND PROCESSES also known as Engineering, Materials and Components (EMC)
The NRCan NDT Certifying Body Rules of Implementation state: Accepted training organizations will be responsible for preparing and delivering a 32-hour course (that includes a course completion test) in materials and processes (M&P)*. Applicants must achieve 70% on the materials and processes test before being allowed to attend training courses in the NDT methods.
For more information, visit the NRCan web site.

*NOTE: Students who hold a valid CGSB certification are exempt from this requirement.

Proof of this prerequisite is needed to proceed with your registration. Please upload your EMC/M&P training document(s) via your CINDE Account, under Tasks Available choose Training Courses > 23 - Submit documents to CINDE. Once reviewed, an email will be sent informing you that you have met the training prerequisite and can confirm your course with payment.

All candidates are required to successfully complete the Materials and Processes (M&P) course (including a completion examination) and are no longer able to challenge the end of course M&P exam based on prior education. If you obtained non-destructive testing certification from another international scheme, you may be eligible to be considered as a foreign-certified candidate. Please review paragraph 14 under the NRCan Rules of Implementation (accommodation process for candidates certified via another international scheme). For more information, please contact the NRCan Non-Destructive Testing Certification Body. If accepted by NRCan, you will need to upload this document to your CINDE account, under Tasks Available choose Training Courses > 23 - Submit documents to CINDE and we can administer the end of course exam.

EMC training courses (both day school or online) can be found here: http://www.cinde.ca/courses/materials.php

  3. NRCan NDT CB REQUIREMENT - MATH SKILLS PRE-SCREENING
    • NRCan Accepted Training Organizations (ATO's), such as CINDE, can administer a math-skill test for students taking PT, MT, UT, RT and ET. NRCan provides ATO's with a template math test to be used by the ATO to develop the screening test. ATO's must individually provide pre-screening criteria to comply with this element.

    • Proof of this prerequisite can be:
      • CINDE online math exam [instructions]
      • CINDE math course *no upload is needed*
      • A math-skill test with another ATO
      • Proof of a passing College, University or Grade 12 math course transcript will also be accepted, taken within ten (10) years
Please upload your document(s) via your CINDE Account under Tasks Available choose Training Courses > 23 - Submit documents to CINDE. Once reviewed, a confirmation email will be sent to you letting you know you can now proceed to confirm your course with payment.
