Currently Seeking: Phased Array Ultrasonic Technician
Based out of our Cambridge, Ontario office located at 405 Maple Grove Road (Unit 1), Cambridge, Ontario, N3E 1B6. Acuren is seeking one (1) Phased Array Ultrasonic Technician for permanent full-time work throughout Eastern Canada. This role involve utilizing Phased Array technology to detect discontinuities (defects) on objects under inspection.
The start date for these roles is immediate. Work locations include industrial sites throughout Eastern Canada and will require travel. The position is covered by the Quality Control Council of Canada (QCCC) Collective Agreement and will include a minimum of guarantee of 40 working hours per week. The hourly wage range will be from $43.18/hour to $45.95/hour CDN, depending on CGSB qualifications held, plus 10% vacation/holiday pay, and $7.00/hour pension contributions. A comprehensive health and dental plan is available following the completion of 500 hours of work (as per the QCCC Collective Agreement). Emergency medical coverage will be provided if required until the 500 hours are worked and/or a provincial health card is obtained.

Job Description/Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Component Shop Manager, the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Technician will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Carry out NDT duties on company aircraft and it's components;
-Report to Maintenance Crew Chief and Maintenance Supervisor on issues affecting the serviceability of aircraft;
-Co-ordinate part requirements with Maintenance Crew Chief and Maintenance Supervisor;
-Attend training courses as directed by the company;
-Maintaining the work area in a neat and tidy condition;
-Becoming familiar with Transport Canada Company manuals and documents;
-Ability to read Structural Repair manual; and Blueprints;
-Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator Permit;
-Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Employees must have successfully completed the Materials and Processes examination from a NRCan Accepted Training Organization.
-Employees must hold CGSB (Canadian General Standards Board) Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications in one or more of the following four disciplines:Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, Magnetic and Penetrant test.
-Additional Level II qualifications and experience with aircraft NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
In this leadership role, you will have an opportunity to oversee and mentor a team of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) professionals performing fundamental NDT inspections and examinations to ensure the integrity of our Oil Sands assets. As the Lead Hand - NDT, you will spend time in both the office and the field, supervising and sharing your knowledge and expertise with junior technicians, and performing critical work in the field.

This position is based at our Horizon Oil Sands site in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation and Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and Accommodations Program

REQUIREMENTS:
• Typically 7+ years of experience using NDT techniques, procedures and equipment in the Oil and Gas industry, with 3+ years of supervisory experience
• Ideal candidate will hold the following certifications:
o UT 2, MT 2, PT 2, XRF I, PAUT 2, PCN or CSWIP
o Experience and knowledge in HT and FT
o Training and/or certification in RT
o Training and/or certification in ET
• Demonstrated ability to perform inspections and to interpret results
• College Technical Diploma preferred but High School Diploma or GED is required as a minimum
