• Come and represent yourself and industry organization!

Registration can be done by applying here.  A copy of your copy of ISO 9712 or ASNT or CGSB UT Level 2 certification will be needed so please upload the front and back of your certification card to Task #23 in your CINDE account.

Don't forget your structured credits for certification renewal!!!

As you all know, a structured credit system as an alternative for certification renewal was added to ISO 9712 in 2022 and is currently now part of the Canadian certification system.

There are 11 activities listed and you need a total of 100 in the 5 year period. Inspectors who are performing NDT on a daily basis can get 95 of those points from their work.

Of most interest to CINDE and PANNDT are:

Activity #6: Participation to a technical seminar/paper
Activity #7: Presenting a technical seminar/ paper
Activity #8: Current individual membership in NDT or NDT related society

It is too late to present a paper for next week but participation at PANNDT 2025 and CINDE membership are still available. Remember these are annual options for the 5 year period.

From conversations with the Certification Bodies, it seems that your registration receipt and conference program listing your presentation will be sufficient proof for your application but if you need anything else, please ask.

CINDE wishes to provide clarity regarding recent references in the Federal Government’s Budget that have prompted questions within the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) community.

The Budget announced the planned elimination of the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) by March 2026 as a cost-saving measure. While this announcement is notable, it is important to emphasize that CINDE, together with QCCC, NDTMA, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), and the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), has been working closely and proactively to ensure continuity and stability for the Canadian NDT system. These efforts include direct engagement with the Standards Council of Canada and ongoing communication with CGSB.

The foundation of NDT certification in Canada is the ISO 9712 international standard. The changes related to CGSB pertain primarily to the administration of Canada’s input into the international standards development process and the publication of the identical Canadian version of ISO 9712. At this time, no fundamental changes to the certification framework or its application in Canada are anticipated.

While administrative structures may evolve, Canada’s commitment to safety, quality, and technical integrity remains unchanged. Certification requirements will continue to be maintained, and Canada will remain an active and influential contributor to the development of international NDT standards. CINDE and its partners will advocate for outcomes that not only preserve the existing system, but may also streamline and strengthen how the Canadian NDT framework operates.

We encourage stakeholders to rely on verified information and avoid speculation. Updates will be communicated as further details become available.
